Since 2005, the advent concert of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia has taken place in the Wiesenkirche in Soest. This musical and visual delight is telecast live on WDR and enjoys great popularity both on location and on television sets. In 2006, international star Mario Adorf participated as a reciter. In a personal conversation, he impressed with detailed knowledge about the restorations taking place at St. Maria zur Wiese.
